IFS Laboratories Ltd was founded by Karen Brooks and Zeb Alam in 1999, as a Flammability, Physical and Chemical Testing Laboratory of upholstered furniture and textiles materials. Both from Flammability backgrounds, with the added mixture of a Chemistry background, they have now been working in laboratory testing for over 25 years. They have a wealth of knowledge in the testing of textiles and upholstery materials which they are able to draw on to the benefit of their clients. The idea for the business came from Karen spotting an opportunity for providing more feedback for customers with Flammability testing requirements. As this was something they could not provide in their previous working environment, they decided to set up a company that could. Karen’s background in Financial Services and Business Development, Zeb’s in Chemistry, made for a great business partnership. With their entrepreneurial spirits ignited, they continue to grow and develop the company, introducing BE-LABSURE, which utilises the technical competence and knowledge of our employees and provides a strong and reputable service to our clients.
